Support
All mission work would be in vain without the blessing and opportunity for support that God has granted us in the network of Free Reformed Churches, both national and international.
National cooperation
The church federation of the Free Reformed Churches of South Africa comprise the churches of:
- Bellville (Cape Town)
- Bethal (Mpumalanga)
- Johannesburg
- Mamelodi
- Pretoria
- Pretoria-Maranata
- Soshanguve North
The missionary churches
Bellville (Cape Town) - responsible for mission work in Belhar, Leiden and Wesbank;
Pretoria-Maranata - responsible for mission work in Soshanguve and
Mamelodi - responsible for mission work in Nellmapius
are nationally supported through a collaboration agreement signed between all the churches within the federation.
At the 1996 Synod the decision was taken to appoint Mission Deputies that would fulfill a financial coordinating function. They would be the mechanism that connects the national and international supporting networks. The Mission Deputies are responsible for the equitable division of resources among the different missionary churches and a far as possible, should try and promote unity in all policy decisions taken by the missionary churches.
International cooperation
The mission work in South Africa is currently mainly supported by the Reformed Churches (Vrijgemaakt) in the Netherlands, and more specifically from the Classis Grootegast, Classis Appingedam, Classis Warfum and Part Synod Friesland. The agreement includes 53 churches with approximately 26 000 members.
Each month a circular is distributed through which account is given of all the mission work supported by various Dutch churches. The circular is titled “Tot aan de einden der aarde”. Through the text and pictures readers are also made aware all the developments within the mission work and are able to share in the many blessing provided by God.
