Nellmapius
Background
Mamelodi is situated to the east of downtown Pretoria,
approximately 30 kilometres from the centre of town. It was the
first mission congregation within the FRCSA and the work was
initially started by members of the FRC Pretoria. A large area of
Mamelodi comprises dilapidated houses made from aluminium. People
live in poor circumstances and the mission work started as
meetings held in the living rooms of these houses. Rev T de Boer
was called as missionary in 1983 and with his departure back to
the Netherlands, Rev M de Vries resided there for a short period
until Rev J Bosman took over in 1991. The church in Mamelodi has
become a self governing church within the FRCSA during 2003.They
have now taken over the work in Nellmapius and are the missionary
church for the growing congregation in Nellmapius.
Nellmapius
Nellmapius is a new development south of Mamelodi. The mission
congregation is being served by Rev Tebogo Mogale, assisted by
two mission students namely Phineas Kgatle and Sam Mathlokoane.
The church comprises approximately 70 members that meet each
Sunday to listen to the Word of God being preached. Bible study
is also offered to the members of the church and the youth
actively participated in catechism, which is mainly provided for
by the mission students.
