This English page has been created to provide you
with a brief summary of the content of our homepage.
We are a bond of churches, known as the Vrye
Gereformeerde Kerke (Free Reformed Churches) of South Africa. This bond of
churches is Afrikaans speaking. The first church was established in Pretoria on
8 October 1950. Eventually other churches have also been established in
Johannesburg, Cape Town and Bethal. See the

We wish to be truly Reformed churches in South
Africa. As such, we believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, which is
a guide for our lives. We accept the three Ecumenical Creeds, namely:
- The Apostles Creed
- The Nicene Creed
- The Athanasian Creed
We also accept the Three Forms of Unity, which
were written around the Great Reformation of the 16th Century:
- The Belgic Confession
- The Heidelberg Catechism
- The Canons of Dort
Our Church Order is based on that which was
written at the Synod of Dort 1618/19.
We uphold close sister relations with:
Brotherly contacts are also maintained with the following churches:
- The Free Church of Southern Africa (Suid Afrika)
- The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (Malawi & Zimbabwe)
- African Evangelical Presbyterian Chruch (Kenia)
- Reformed Church in East Africa (Kenia)
- Church of Christ in Sudan amongst the Tiv

International Conference of Reformed Churches (ICRC), of which various other
